Textile cycle and sustainable design strategy chart
When the Clothing Department of Hochschule Hannover, Germany promotes the concept of sustainable design, it uses the term Slow Fashion. The school’s teachers believe that when promoting sustainable fashion, it is not that simple by just saying the slogan or concept. To change, it needs execution power and brainstorming, providing as many methods and design strategies as possible on a cyclic basis.
This chart, organized by Hochschule Hannover, is called “Textile Chain and Design Strategy.” The middle of the circle is the designer written in black font. Those written in the clockwise direction in order are raw materials, fiber generation, fabric processing, garments making, distribution, procurement, use and care, and re-development. The orange fonts that extended out are method strategy and behaviors that can facilitate circulation.
In Hochschule Hannover Design School, if you want to talk sustainability, you need to ask questions from the garment process. For a piece of clothing to be sustainable, up to 80% of it is controlled by design. From fabric procurement to design strategy, the designer cannot place all the sustainable responsibilities on consumers, but how to apply creativity to achieve a strategic approach to textile cycle. The Sustainable Fashion Team of Hochschule Hannover Design School is called “use less.” It is not only interesting but has been continuing to test new design strategies. 德國漢諾威設計高校（Hochschule Hannover）服裝系在推廣永續設計概念時，使用Slow Fashion（慢時尚）一詞，該校教師認為要推動永續時尚，不只是口號或概念那麼簡單，要改變，需要執行力，能做的該是集思廣益，在循環基礎上，提供盡可能多的方法與設計策略。
這張由漢諾威設計高校整理的圖表，名為「紡織鏈與設計策略」，圓圈中間為設計師，黑色字體寫的，從順時鐘方向分別為：原料、纖維的生成、織品加工、製成衣、配送、購買、使用與照護、再次開發；而一旁延伸出去，橘色字體，則是能夠促成循環的方法策略與行為。
在漢諾威時尚設計學校中，若談永續就需要從製衣過程發問，因為一件衣物要做到永續，高達百分之八十都掌握在設計時，從布料採購到設計策略，設計師不能夠將所有永續責任推拖到消費者身上，而是可以將創意也發揮在如何達成織品循環的策略方法上。漢諾威設計學校永續時尚小組的名稱也很有趣，叫做「Use-less」（無用／用少一點），至今不斷測試新的設計策略中。（文章內容部分參考《forum Nachhaltig Wortschaften》）
